Laminaria japonica, which translates to Polish or Japanese foliage, is a species of brown algae in the order of leaf algae. This edible kelp is primarily consumed for its properties and rich nutrient and mineral content. The Japanese kelp, also known as kelp, is known for its high natural iodine content, an element that performs several important functions in our bodies. Iodine is a necessary element for humans, which we must obtain from food, but due to frequent deficiencies, supplementation is recommended.
