What Are BCAAs?
BCAAs are naturally present in our daily diet, but especially in the protein sources we consume: vegetables (legumes, etc.) or animals (eggs, red and white meat, fish, etc.). In bodybuilding, BCAAs play a role as an energy source for training because they help maintain glycogen stores in the muscles. During training, the muscles will first use BCAAs as an energy source before they start storing stored glycogen thanks to the intake of carbohydrates. Logically, consuming BCAAs allows you to train harder and longer thanks to a higher energy intake.
BCAAs are branched-chain amino acids consisting of leucine, isoleucine, and valine. They are essential because they cannot be synthesized by the organism alone and must be supplied by food and more specifically by supplementation. BCAAs can help combat muscle catabolism because these are the chemical compounds found in proteins.
